GRAND HAVEN (WHTC) - A 28-year-old Holland Township man has withdrawn his guilty pleas in connection with an August incident at the Value Place motel on Van Ommen Drive. Juan Casillas this afternoon asked to withdraw his plea on charges of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, firearms possession by a felon and felony firearms, as well as a probation violation in Ottawa County Circuit Court, shortly before he was to have been sentenced. He had admitted his guilt earlier this fall in connected with the August 24 incident involving ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of the motel, where he allegedly threatened her with a gun, then fired several rounds in the air as she drove off. No new hearing date has been set. Casillas had been looking at up to five years in prison for the firearms possession charge, plus two more for felony firearms.
