ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) - A 42-year-old Zeeland man has been arraigned on charges stemming from a carjacking at a parking lot off of 16th Street and Waverly Road in Holland last Friday night. Michael Jay Eding remains in the Ottawa County Jail on a parole violation count in addition to the stolen vehicle charge. A 72-year-old woman loading her car with groceries had the keys to the vehicle taken from her hand, with the suspect driving off with the lift gate open. The victim was shaken but unhurt. Surveillance video at the store helped spur public tips that led detectives to Eding’s residence, where he surrendered without incident. Eding may be a suspect in other crimes as well.
