HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - In the category of making Chicken Salad out of Chicken Scratch comes another idea stemming from stems.
The first annual Tulip Time Festival T-shirt Design Contest concluded last night, with Hope College student Joey Carty capturing honors with his retro-70’s style creation that silhouetted two Holland landmarks of the tulip flower and the windmill. The contest was a byproduct of last year’s early spring blooming of the tulips, according to festival marketing and group sales manager Susan Zalnis. Carty’s design will be on two-color t-shirts that will be sold through the festival office and online, and with a response of over 75 submitted entries that was considered, Zalnis confirmed that this contest will continue next year.
Tulip Time begins its eight-day run on May 4th.
