HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The second half of the 84th Tulip Time Festival begins today, highlighted by the first of three scheduled parades. Governor Snyder makes his third straight visit to Holland’s signature event, speaking at the festival luncheon at DeVos Fieldhouse before donning traditional Dutch clothing to join Mayor Kurt Dykstra and other dignitaries in the Volksparade along 8th Street downtown. Comedic magician Chris Linn performs this evening at the Knickerbocker Theatre. Ideal weather conditions through the first four days of the festival should continue into tomorrow, according to forecasters. Tulip Time runs through Saturday.

Governor Snyder is spending the day in West Michigan. Prior to his Tulip Time activities, the Ann Arbor Republican visits students and staff at Zeeland’s Innocademy/I-Cademy campus. The non-profit school received approval from the state Education Department yesterday of an online charter application, with an 110 thousand-dollar planning grant from the department to help pay for its planned August start up, and officials say that the Governor will unveil a new educational development at the school today. Mr. Snyder’s day ends with a speech before the West Michigan World Trade Conference at GVSU’s Grand Rapids’ campus this evening.
