UNDATED (WHTC) - Candidate forums involving races along the Lakeshore were held in two separate venues last night.

The League of Women Voters of the Holland Area hosted a session for candidates for the state's 89th House District and 30th Senate District representatives.  More than two dozen questions were submitted by members of the audience, but time restrictions only allowed for a dozen to be answered.  The 89th District candidates in attendance were incumbent Republican Amanda Price and Democratic challenger Don Bergman. For the 30th District, the Democratic candidate Sarah Howard was on hand for the questions, but her opponent, state Senator Arlan Meekhof, sent a statement of regret, as he was attending the Jeb Bush fundraiser for Governor Snyder in Lansing.

Meanwhile, Congressman Bill Huizenga and challenger Dean Vandersteldt met at Muskegon Community College last night for a forum sponsored by the school and by M-Live; no sessions between them in the Holland/Zeeland area are planned before the General Election three weeks from today.

The LWV has two more Candiate forums scheduled. A "Coffee and Conversation" with Saugatuck City Council candidates is this coming Monday at 7 PM in All Saints Episcopal Church. State Senator Tonya Schuitmaker meets with challengers Jim Walters and William Wenzel at the Allegan County Tech and Ed Center on October 28 at 7 PM.
